Ajax not required!
Ajax is probably the most used and most misunderstood buzzword at the moment.
Ever since Google threw together their map and google suggest service web developers have been trying to jump on the band-wagon and throw Ajax at everything that moves.
Hey, so I'm on the band-wagon but at least I know when to stop!
Although still very much in progress, the movie below shows the new template editing interface. The great thing about it is that there's not a single blob of ajax in there. It's all done via iFrames which means that it works on every modern javascript enabled browser.
The new interface makes finding template bits a snap and as it's all on one screen you don't have to keep clicking between pages.
I am going to tidy up the actual editing interface and add a "save" button that uses Ajax so one doesn't have to refresh, but other than that, it's ajax free.
Hurrah!

Yeah, Iv noticed topics everywhere about AJAX. Little bits here and there are nice, but too much would be silly...and not needed.

Great !
How does it behave when editing more than one template bits ? Also without reload ?

I'm probably going to get multiple template bits to load on a new page.
I don't think it'd make for a pretty interface having a bunch of editors load with the two columns underneath.

but if it is usefull ... (when you're looking for a templ_bit and not finding it)
I guess this depends how it is coded/would work and how much work it needs to get done.
Usefull would be more important than pretty I guess...
I don't know how well it would behave.
Do how you think it's the best, you're in a better position to know...
